Buying your first set?
Every numbered tile has its number in the corner in its suit color. Dragons, flowers and jokers are labeled in words, and every wind shows its letter. See every tile in the Tile Key before you buy. You will also need racks and pushers, dice, a mat and this year's card. We don't sell those; most classes lend racks, so ask your teacher which ones she uses.
How do I tell the suits apart?
Every numbered tile has its number in the corner, in its suit color: blue for Dots, green for Bams, red for Craks. Every Crak also keeps its Chinese numeral. Each dragon sits in a frame of its suit's color and is labeled SOAP, GREEN or RED, every wind shows its letter, and every flower and joker is labeled in words.
How many jokers and blanks come in a set?
Classic Christmas has 8 jokers in four holiday designs, two of each, plus 8 blanks. Our other sets have 10 jokers, 2 more than standard American play uses, plus 6 blanks. Blanks are there for house rules, or to stand in for a lost tile. If your group plays with blanks, pick a colored back rather than Ivory White, so a face-up blank never passes for a face-down tile.
Does it work with this year's card? Is the card included?
Yes, every set has the tiles the American game uses: three suits of 36 tiles, 16 winds, 12 dragons and 8 flowers, plus jokers and blanks. The annual card isn't included. It's sold separately by its publisher. Racks, pushers, a mat and dice aren't included either.
Will the tiles fit my racks?
Each tile is 1.18 in tall, 0.87 in wide and 0.55 in thick (30 x 22 x 14 mm). If you're not sure, compare it with the tile size your racks list, or send us your rack's measurements and we'll check before you order.
Do you sell the bags on their own?
Yes. Our knit tile bag with a name embroidered on it is $45, and our velvet bag that carries 4 racks is $35. The rack bag is 22 x 9.5 in outside, so measure your racks first. Bags ship from our bag maker in their own box.
Why do the bags arrive in a separate box?
Your tiles are printed for your order and ship in one box from our print partner. Bags come from our bag maker in their own box, so they may arrive on a different day. Buying the tile bag on its own? Enter the name on the product page. With a Trio or a Gift Set, reply to your order email with the name for your bag. Your tiles don't wait for the name. If anything runs late, we email you a new estimate, and you can cancel that item for a full refund.
How does swapping a design work?
After checkout, reply to your order confirmation within 24 hours. You can swap up to five of the printed designs: the joker, any wind or dragon, the 1 Bam, the 1 Dot, or any flower. One design covers every tile that uses it. Numbers, suit colors and tile labels stay as they are. Library designs and your own images are included, and new artwork is quoted before we start. We email a proof, and your swap prints only after you approve it. A swapped set adds 1 to 3 days and is final sale once you approve your proof. No reply within 24 hours, or no answer to your proof within 5 days? We print your set as shown.
When will my set arrive?
Your set is printed to order by our print partner in China and ships free with tracking. Plan on about 2 weeks from your order to delivery, and a few days longer in November and December. Your shipping email includes the tracking link. Swapping a design? Your set prints after you approve your proof.
Can I return it?
Keep the designs as shown and you can return your set within 30 days of delivery. Email us first and we'll reply with your return approval and the returns address of our print partner in China. Return shipping is paid by you. A swapped set is final sale once you approve your proof, and name-embroidered bags are final sale too. Until you approve your proof, you can change or cancel a swap for a full refund. Missing or damaged tile? Email a photo within 30 days of delivery and we send a replacement at no cost. Why $179 for tiles only? Is this a subscription?
The $179 covers 160 melamine tiles with a number or a label on every printed tile, printed to order in your choice of back color, up to 5 design swaps from our designs or your own images with a proof, and free US shipping. New artwork is quoted before we start. It's a tile set only, made for players who already own racks and a mat. It's a one-time purchase, with no subscription and nothing to renew.
Is there a deal on a second set?
Yes. Put any two tile sets in your cart and the second set is $59 off at checkout, so two sets are $299. It's applied automatically, once per order, and can't be combined with discount codes. Table Ready Trios and Gift Sets aren't part of this deal.
What are the Gift Set and the Table Ready Trio?
The Christmas Gift Set is a tile set and our knit tile bag with her name embroidered on it: $189 for both, $224 if bought separately. The Table Ready Trio is a tile set, the name bag and a velvet bag for 4 racks: $199 for all three, $259 if bought separately. Both ship free in the US. Racks are not included.
